Xylella fastidiosa

This disease which has recently started to spread in Southern Europe poses a significant risk to both the wild and cultivated plants in the UK, it is vital that as an industry we ensure that we don’t risk bringing this deadly Bacteria into the UK.

The disease has a wide range of hosts including: Olea, Rosmarinus, Lavandula, Prunus and many more!

North Hill Nurseries have joined the Horticultural Trades Association (HTA) intiative to state that:

“We have taken the decision NOT to knowingly purchase any host plants originating from regions where the disease Xylella is known to exist. The decision has been taken after detailed consideration as to the potential catastrophic impact the introduction of the disease could have to the UK environment, coupled with the ever increasing number of host plant genera of this disease. This is in line with DEFRA’s good practice recommendations.”
